Names of Jesus – Day 30 – Potentate

The last day of this series ends with an awesome name for Jesus: Potentate.

~1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

Noah Webster defines it as:

Potentate

PO’TENTATE, n. A person who possesses great power or sway; a prince; a sovereign; an emperor, king or monarch.

Exalting him not only above earthly princes and potentates, but above the highest of the celestial hierarchy.

Strong’s lists the Greek word as:

G1413

δυνάστης

dunastēs

doo-nas’-tace

From G1410; a ruler or officer: – of great authority, mighty, potentate.

When we apply the definitions to this verse, we see that our King of kings and Lord of lords is the ultimate Sovereign King – He is the Great Authority and His Word will be final. My friend, if you have not believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, you will not gain entrance into Heaven. The Word of God says,

~Revelations 7:14-17 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

The Great Shepherd will lead us to the ultimate still waters, the ultimate green pastures and will feed us Himself. Whatever name has defined Jesus Christ, He remains he King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Mighty Potentate, Saviour, Messiah, Bread of Life, Apostle, both High Priest and Passover, Lamb of God, our Rock and Fortress!

If you do not have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, you are missing out on spending eternity with Him in Heaven.

~Romans 10:8-13 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

You do not need to wait until you get out of purgatory. Jesus says that if you call on Him now, you SHALL be saved – not maybe – not possibly – but SHALL be! Don’t believe the traditions of men and church magisterium.

~John 9:35-39 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

Dear religious person, if you think you know the way to Heaven but depend on your works or church to get you there, you are the one that Jesus is speaking of when said “they which see might be made blind”! You think you can see but in the light of the Word of God, you are blind. Won’t you let Jesus talk to you through His Word today? Read your Bible and let the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ reveal the way to salvation to you!

The Mighty Potentate will have the last word.

~Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
