Science

~1 Timothy 6:20-21 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen. The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.

Science is no different today than in Paul’s day. Paul exhorted Timothy to avoid the profane and vain babblings of science which exclude the Word of God. God’s Word has taught us about creation, the universe, the shape of the earth, life, etc. Anything preached which is more or less than that which is referred to in His word is error in the faith!

Just today, I heard a man question the Pastor because the Pastor did not believe in the earth being billions of years old. A Christian must place his faith on God’s Word and not that of man. No matter how many theories there are on a certain issue, if they are contrary to God’s Word, the believer must choose who he will believe! How can a Christian say he believes in evolution and in the same breath say he believes the Bible? The two do not go together! Evolution began being taught as “the theory of evolution,” but now the word “theory” has been removed and it is believed as fact! Christians who believe in evolution ought to be ashamed of themselves!  The longer one delves into science and ignores the Truth of God’s Word, the blinder he will become.

~2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

God has not left us helpless and without information! So open the Book, read and learn for yourself! God has promised wisdom to those who seek it!  It takes more faith to believe in a big bang and the whole evolution theory than it does to believe that God created all things.

~Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

    Hi Kate and Good morning.

Thank you so much for this site and all the information within it. I am looking for a church home and hope that you can help us. My family and I live in Haymarket Virginia. It is so strange to me that my family and I cannot find an inter-racial church, preaching from the Bible, in this area. Churches are either all black or all white… I’m looking for a Christ believing, Bible teaching, Christ leading, Heaven representing Church (we are all One in Christ). We are hungry for the WORD. I’m not looking for entertainment and music with a lot of emotional preaching but just the WORD. I want to go to church and hear the preacher say “now turn your Bibles to.” and follow along. A church with an outreach to the community, through charity and compassion, seeking to educate All about salvation through Christ. Can you help us? please email me at vharris50@comcast.net

Hi Velma! I emailed you the information to the church I use to go to in Manassas. Hope you visit there soon and please let me know how you liked it! The people there are really sweet!!!

    Hi Kate,
Thank you so very much for the information. We will definitely visit. Today, we visited a church called Word Alive Church International, in Manassas. This was the Sunday for the children’s ministry. It was good to see all the children so actively involved. The entire service was dedicated to the youth expressing their dedication to Christ through song and dance. It seems that every 5th Sunday is Youth Sunday.
When we first arrived we were lovingly greeted and asked to complete the visitor’s information card. While doing so you could hear very loud pop/gospel sounding music (lyrically Christian) coming from the Sanctuary. My first impression was that the music was Way too loud and too “POP”, just too much. But the children really were having fun. It’s funny how sometimes I come to these conclusions before really giving it a try (I’m working on my level of patience). Turned out, we really enjoyed the service and the people were very nice. We will have to go again for their regular service. The church was defiantly a black church, but proclaims the a mission to draw all God’s people….but not there yet…
Ok, now for what I think is an area in need of help for this and so many other Churches… the dress code. Some of the women were not so modestly dressed. In fact, if I were a man I could have been easily enticed by the tight jeans/pants and short dresses/skirts; did I mention cleavage. I think I would love to start some kind of Modesty classes for these young girls; they need help real bad (or should I say that our young men are in need of help fighting the temptations…
So, overall, we didn’t get a lot of the written Word during the service, but did get a lot of Praise and Worship. We will visit your Church suggestion next. Meanwhile, I’m getting a lot of “Word of God” from you so please keep blessing us in Truth without the rhetoric. You remind me of Charles Stanley in your teaching. It was through Charles Stanley that I dedicated my life to Christ. Ironically, I was raised in an ethnically mixed Catholic family; then my father re-married a Jehovah Witness, where we (I and siblings) were guided to participate. As I continued seeking Truth, the Lord led me to Charles Stanly (25 years ago, in Atlanta, GA). And now HE has led me to you. Thank You Kate!
God Bless you my Sister in Christ.

Hi Velma, I’m glad you will be going to visit Tabernacle Baptist Church. In my opinion, it’s not about the church but whether or not the preaching revolves around the Word of God. Churches in the New Testament do not mention one thing about entertaining young people. God’s Word penetrates the youngest of hearts and His Word is what changes a young person all the way to the oldest Senior Saint! Church is not suppose to be a side show – it is a place where Christians can go hear God’s Word and get fueled up for the week. As for dress code, there is no excuse for immodesty when God’s Word says that looking lustfully upon a woman is committing adultery. A woman who dresses in a way that exposes her body is causing a man to lust. The churches today have allowed the world and its sins into the church so they pay the price. When I got saved, I looked to the older women of the faith to learn from – the Holy Spirit convicted me and I asked these older women of the faith why they dressed the way they did. They did teach me by using the Word of God. There are some good books out there on dressing modestly. It doesn’t mean you have to wear dresses to the ground but I’m sure you understand what I am saying 🙂 Keep in touch OK?

    Hi Kate,

You are so right on. I agree with you completely. I pray that I am and will always be a role model of modesty for the woman in church and in life. The Bible is very clear just as it is clear about the church authorities, preachers, deacons and so on. It is difficult these days to find a church that is in line with God’s word; popularty seems more of the thing these days. I pray that you continue to do the work of the lord. You are a beacon to my soul, a path pointed by God, for His purpose.
    Thanks Kate.
