Day-by-Day – Day 4 – The Subtle One

~Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD GOD had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Since the beginning of time, the devil has been trying to make the Word of God unbelievable. His subtle questions in the Garden of Eden were worded in such a way to cause Eve to question what God had said. He is still doing it today.

Today’s Christian must take a stand. We have the Word of God at our fingertips and we have no excuse for not knowing what God has written to us. It is only by knowing the Word that we will be able to recognize the devil’s subtleties. Knowing is half the battle, as they say.

~2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

So, to be able to recognize the devil’s antics, one must:

  1. Read the Word
  2. Apply the Word
  3. Live the Word

It is one thing to read your Bible, but we must also allow the Holy Spirit to do a work in our heart.  Once we have been taught by Him, we can be a testimony to the unbelieving world.

~1 Peter 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

  1. Vicky says:

Thank you LORD for preserving Thy Word down through the generations!

    Psalm 12:6-7
“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

    Psalm 119:89
“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”

    Psalm 119:160
“Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”

Thank you precious sister for the solemn reminder in today’s devotional that we must be diligent in reading, applying and living the Word so that we may be able to recognize the devil’s antics!! “Put on the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:11-13
