Are you weary?

Have you come here today searching for a peaceful moment? Everyone needs a “getaway” at some time or another. Whether it is a quiet moment soaking in the sun, or sitting on a mountain overlooking the valley, or even taking a relaxing bike ride. This picture spoke to my heart. I can see myself sitting on that beautiful little bench quietly meditating on God’s Goodness.

This next series is going to be for those who are weary. Every one of us has felt this way at one time or another. We’ve all been at the end of our rope. It seems that the more we do for Christ, the less fruitful our work appears. One dear Christian told me that the treads on his tires were wearing down.

Jesus had moments where He needed to be in a garden. Maybe it was one similar to this one in the picture where He could quietly sit back and gather His thoughts. He knew what lay ahead and He knew that He needed refueling.

~John 18:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.

Hitchcock’s Bible Names defines Cedron as:

Cedron
black; sad

Nothing in the Word of God is a coincidence. Not even the names chosen for the rivers, towns, etc. You remember this garden, don’t you? It is the garden where Christ went before Judas came to betray Him. How appropriate it is this particular brook’s name was defined as black and sad. I’m sure the Saviour was facing His darkest hour. He knew what lay ahead was going to be a difficult road. Not only was He going to be scourged, beaten and crucified, but He was going to be separated from His Heavenly Father. Once Christ took upon Him the sins of the world, the Father could no longer look upon Him until He conquered death and arose! That is why Christ cried on the cross and said:

~Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Do you feel forsaken today? If you do not know Christ as your Saviour, you are most certainly in need. Won’t you please visit the Salvation Page and read it with all sincerity? Ask God to show you the way to Him.

If you are a believer in need of encouragement for your weary heart, park here for the next 30 days and let’s lift one another up and encourage each other! Just as our Lord had to rest and refuel in the Garden, let’s rest and refuel in His Word!
