Let Your Words Be Sweet As Honey

It is the Word of God that cleanses us when we obey it.

~Psalm 119:9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

What is more beautiful than a woman beginning her day by dedicating her mouth to the Lord?

~Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

What is in her heart will come out of her mouth. Therefore, when a woman begins her day by dedicating the words from her mouth to the Lord, she is going to make a conscious effort to guard her words. She will weigh her thoughts before speaking them. Her husband will receive kindness and understanding even if he does not deserve them. Since the woman was created for man (and not vice versa), it is our God-given duty to strive to be the godly helpmeet He wishes us to be.

~1 Peter 3:1-2 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; (1) While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. (2)

Speaking only kindness takes practice. Holding your temper or sarcastic retorts takes work. But just think of the wonderful benefits: (1) your in God’s will in doing so, (2) you are being a godly testimony to your husband, and (3) he will see Christ in you and be won over!

When we speak kindness to our beloved, we are showing our love to the Lord! God sees this and He is pleased. Aren’t you pleased when your children do something good? God is the ultimate parent!

Seeing as you are speaking about women and their words, I remembered this verse and thought it was a fitting addition to your post:

Proverbs 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

P.S. Men need to consider their words carefully too! God bless.

  4. Kate says:

Amen, Bro. Jerry! VERY fitting indeed 🙂

  5. Kate says:

Tori, don’t we all? I love how the Word can speak to us over and over in the same verses during the course of time. I always find something new and refreshing 🙂

  6. Kate says:

Hi Tammy! Good to see you 🙂
