Names of Jesus – Day 3 – Saviour

Have you ever been in a situation where someone rescued you from certain death? I have. When I was 12 years old, I nearly drowned. Had it not been for my brother-in-law, Bob, jumping into the lake after me, I would surely have died. The act of one man saved my life! Bob was an expert swimmer and, thus, was perfectly qualified to jump right in to save me. My sister, Pauline, could not have done this as she did not know how to swim, therefore, she was not qualified!

I sit hear thinking of where my soul would have been had Bob not rescued me! I would be burning in hell, then the lake of fire for all eternity! The fear that I felt at the time I was drowning is nothing compared to the fear that is experienced by those who are now in hell! How I praise the Lord that Bob saved my life that day. It gave me the opportunity to hear the blessed Gospel of Jesus Christ thirteen years later! Although I had been raised in a moral home, a good catholic home, I had never heard the plan of salvation. But one thing is for certain, I knew what it was like to be “saved” from death.

As I meditated on that this morning, I noticed that I could only be saved by someone who knew how to swim. So it is with our salvation. Only someone who could conquer death and have eternal life could be qualified to save us – this was the Life Giver, Himself, Jesus Christ! There is no other that is qualified for the task of salvation, my friend.

Today’s Name of Jesus is Saviour! What a great name it is! There is no one that can say that they died and rose again. Lazarus could not claim this. Although he was raised from the dead, Lazarus eventually did die. Joseph Smith died. Muhammad did die. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, left heaven to take on human form for the sole purpose of dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins! He then rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of the Father!

Only God is qualified to save us! (Isa 43:11) I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. No mere human can save us. Mary cannot save us. Muhammad cannot save us. We have a qualified Saviour in Jesus Christ. Only He can claim this title.

I thought you might enjoy reading Scriptures relating to our Saviour! 🙂 If you are not blessed by these, your blesser is broken!

(2 Sa 22:3) The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

(Psa 106:21) They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

(Isa 43:3) For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

(Isa 43:11) I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

(Isa 45:15) Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

(Isa 45:21) Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

(Isa 49:26) And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

(Isa 60:16) Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

(Hos 13:4) Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

(Luk 1:47) And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. (Notice Mary said this – she says that God is her Saviour! How could she be sinless then?)

(Luk 2:11) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

(Joh 4:42) And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

(Act 5:31) Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

(Act 13:23) Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

(Eph 5:23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

(Php 3:20) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

(1 Ti 1:1) Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

(1 Ti 2:3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

(1 Ti 4:10) For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

(2 Ti 1:10) But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

(Tit 1:3) But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

(Tit 1:4) To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

(Tit 2:10) Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

(Tit 2:13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

(Tit 3:4) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

(Tit 3:6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

(2 Pe 1:1) Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

(2 Pe 1:11) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

(2 Pe 2:20) For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

(2 Pe 3:18 ) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

(1 Jn 4:14) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

(Jud 1:25) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

  1. Sis. Tammy says:

    All I can say is what the song says:
    “Oh What A Saviour!”

  2. Kate says:

    Amen, Sis. Tammy 🙂 We are so blessed!

  3. Robert Todd says:

    Read 1 Tim 4:9-11 again and again. The expectation is for the salvation (in due time) for ALL. Some have a “special” salvation. All are not saved at the same time… but all will reap what they sow but it is not “eternal damnation.”. If Jesus saved even the left over bread and fishes, will He not save humanity?

  4. Kate says:

    IF Jesus was to save all humanity in due time, why did He have a need to preach on hell? Hell is mentioned 23 times in the N.T. alone. Then He also preached about the lake of fire (the second death) four times. The rich man went to hell and Lazarus went to Abraham’s bosom. Read the account in Luke 16 and you will see that your theory does not hold water. Your theory allows all mankind to live like they want to with no repentance because they will be saved anyway. NO WAY!

    (Pro 14:12) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

    (Pro 16:25) There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
